The Spanair flight, flight number AJK5022, due to take off at 14.45 local time, had around 166 passengers and 6 crew on board and initial reports suggested that there may have been an engine fire in the left engine of the McDonnell Douglas MD82. Today's death toll has been confirmed as 153, with 19 seriously injured.
